Welcome to the Australian Chamber Ensemble web site.
The Australian Chamber Ensemble was established in 2007. Formed by Australian flautist, Janine Hanrahan, the ensemble comprises many of Melbourne’s finest freelance musicians; all of whom, are dedicated to the performance of chamber music repertoire from the 20th and 21st-Century. Importantly, the performance of music by contemporary Australian composers is a cornerstone of the repertoire choice in each concert.
The ACE varies in size from trio up to an ensemble of thirteen players. Unlike many chamber music groups, whose primary repertoire is drawn from the pantheon of great works of renowned classical and romantic composers, the ACE deliberately seeks out lesser-known music of corresponding status to delight audiences in the discovery of something new.
Details about upcoming concerts are announced on this web site. The concert schedule for 2010 includes a series of two concerts in Hobart at the Conservatorium of Music, University or Tasmania.
